A Perfect Cup of Coffee

  • Start with a clean coffeemaker.
  • Use freshly ground beans and fresh cold, good-tasting water.
  • Choose the correct grind for your coffeemaker.
  • Use 1 to 2 tablespoons of ground coffee and 6 ounces of water per cup of coffee.
  • Use metal or oxygen-bleached filters.
  • Use coffeemakers with a slow brew time (between 4 and 7 minutes).
  • Serve hot coffee as soon as it’s done brewing.
  • Don’t reheat coffee—it becomes very bitter.
