Southern Cornbread

- 3 Tbsp. bacon drippings
- 1 cup corn meal (self-rising)
- Buttermilk
Heat oven to 450º. Place bacon drippings in skillet or muffin pan. Put pan in oven and let it get very hot. Meanwhile, combine self-rising corn meal with enough buttermilk to make batter slightly thick. Pour hot drippings into batter. Stir and then pour into hot pan. Bake until brown.
