Palitao

  • 1 lb. Mochi flour
  • 1 3/4 cups water or enough to form soft dough

Boil water in a saucepan. Form dough into small ball and then flatten each ball into oblong shaped dough. Drop into the boiling water. As each floats up, remove from water and either roll in grated fresh coconut and serve with sugar and sesame seed flour or coconut topping.

Coconut Topping:

  • 2 cups grated fresh coconut or canned shredded coconut
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • A pinch of anise seeds

Cook all ingredients for about ten minutes. Cool.
