Chocolate Fondue
Assemble ingredients:
- 6 tbsp. cream*
- 1/8 tsp. cinnamon
- 3 (4 oz.) bars sweet cooking chocolate
At serving time:
Heat cream over low heat in a 1-½ cup fondue pot. Break chocolate into pieces and add to cream, stirring to make a smooth sauce as chocolate melts. Stir in cinnamon. Serve fresh fruit such as pieces of apple, pineapple, pears and orange sections to dip in the chocolate sauce. Makes enough for 4 servings.
*This amount of cream makes a thick, dark chocolate sauce. Add more cream for a lighter, thinner sauce.
TIPS: This rich chocolate sauce is kept warm in the small fondue pot. Serve a simple cookie along with the fruit. The fondue pot with the chocolate sauce should be set in the center of a suitable sized decorative tray and the fruit arranged around it; or each person may be given a small plate on which the fruit is arranged. One dips from that dish into the chocolate mixture. Angel food cake, cut into cubes; marshmallows and doughnuts may also be used.
