Lotus Root Pupu

  • 4 to 6 cups lotus root (peeled, sliced thin, soaked in water with a little salt for about 2 hours)
  • 1/4 cup oil (or sesame oil)
  • 1 or 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup dried shrimp
  • 1/4 cup shoyu
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 small hot pepper
  • Dash of MSG

Heat oil in pan; add garlic and dried shrimp. Saute until garlic turns golden brown and shrimp looks crispy. Add drained lotus root and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes. Add shoyu, sugar, hot pepper, and MSG.
