Chosen Ame

  • 1 stick kanten
  • 1½ cups water
  • Food coloring
  • Peppermint flavoring (optional)
  • Powdered sugar

Rinse kanten and squeeze out water. Add water and let stand for half an hour. Cook until kanten is dissolved.

Add sugar and cook until mixture threads slightly.

Remove from heat, add coloring and flavoring, and pour into shallow pan to set.

Cut into cubes and roll in powdered sugar.
