Honey Custard

  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup honey, maple syrup or sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups milk, scalded
  • Vanilla flavoring, if desired
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut

Beat the eggs with the honey, sirup, or sugar, and salt; add the scalded milk; pour into custard cups. Place custard cups in pan of hot water and bake in a 325 degree oven 35 minutes. Remove from oven; sprinkle tops of custard with the shredded coconut and bake 15 minutes longer or until knife inserted in the custard comes out clean. Serve warm or chilled set on top of little white paper doilies on individual serving plates.
