Danish Puff

  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • ½ cup butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsp. water
  • ½ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ tsp. almond flavor
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 3 eggs

Measure first cup of flour into bowl. Cut in butter. Sprinkle with water and mix with a fork. Round into a ball and divide in half. Roll with hands into 2 long strips and pat out on an ungreased baking sheet into 12 by 3 inch strips– 3 inches apart. Measure second amount of butter and water in a saucepan and bring to a rolling boil. Remove from heat and add flavoring. Stir in all of flour immediately–when smooth add one egg at a time and beat until smooth after each addition. Spread on 2 pastries. Bake about 60 minutes at 350 degrees or until topping is crisp and brown. Frost with confectioners sugar icing and sprinkle with nuts.
