Lemon-Gel Crunchies
Sift together:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp. baking soda
Cream:
- 1 cup margarine
- 1-3 oz. pkg. lemon gelatin
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
Beat in:
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Add:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- ½ cup chopped nuts
- 3 cups rice crispies
Drop by teaspoon onto greased baking sheet. Top each cookie with butter topping and a thin strip of maraschino cherry.
Blend thoroughly:
- ¼ cup wheat germ
- ¼ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- ¼ tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- grated rind of 1 orange
- 2 tbsp. chilled butter
Bake at 325 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
