- 2 3/4 Cups All Purpose Flour
- 1/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 Cup Butter
- 1 Cup Buttermilk
- Poppy or Sesame Seeds (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Blend flour, sugar, salt, and baking soda. Cut in butter until mixture is fine crumbs.
3. Stir in buttermilk until dough holds together.
4. Shape dough into balls of about 1″ in diameter.
5. On a floured board, roll out each ball into a 4″ or 5″ round. Turn the dough occasionally to prevent sticking.
6. Sprinkle poppy or sesame seeds as dough is rolled out.
7. Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake until lightly browned (check frequently).
8. Cool on a wire rack.
