Guava Kanten

  • 2 sticks Kanten
  • 2½ cups water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • Red food coloring
  • 2-6 oz. cans frozen guava nectar, thawed
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice

Rinse kanten and squeeze to remove water. Tear into small pieces. Add water and soak for about 30 minutes. Bring to a boil and cook until kanten is dissolved. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and add guava nectar, lemon juice, and a few drops red food coloring. Strain into 8″ square pan. Cool and chill in refrigerator. Cut into desired shapes for serving.

Note: If fresh guava puree is used, add more sugar according to taste.
