Chocolate Dimples

  • 2 c sifted flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ c butter or shortening
  • ¼ c butter and ¼ c shortening (if preferred)
  • 3 T granulated sugar
  • ¼ c brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 egg, unbeaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ¼ pkg. chocolate morsels

Sift together flour, salt and baking soda and set aside. Blend together shortening, sugar and brown sugar. Add egg and beat well. Gradually add the flour mixture. Add vanilla. Form tiny balls, the size of marbles, and place on ungreased cookie sheet about 1½ inches apart. Press the balls with a floured drinking glass bottom. Place a chocolate morsel in center of each pressed ball.

Bake at 300° F. for 10-15 minutes. Yields 80 to 100 cookies.
