Applesauce Cup Cakes

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1-1/4 cup sieved applesauce

Sift all the dry ingredients. Blend nuts and raisins with 1 tbsp. sifted dry ingredients. Cream shortening with brown and white sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in egg; mix thoroughly. Blend in nuts and raisins. Pour into muffin tin 2/3 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
