Creamy Frosting

  • 1 lb. box powdered sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk or cream
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • ¼ tsp. almond extract
  • 1 unbeaten egg white

Cream shortening, adding powdered sugar alternately with milk or cream. Blend in salt and flavorings. Add unbeaten egg white and beat until fluffy (2 minutes on high speed). Spread on cooled cake. Frosts 2 layers or 1 large loaf. Keep cake refrigerated in warm weather.
