Creamy French Icing

  • 2 1/3 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • Syrup made from: 4½ tbsp. granulated sugar and 2 tbsp. water

Mix egg with sugar. Add hot syrup. Beat for 1 minute. Add desired flavoring and shortening. Beat for 3 minutes or until smooth and creamy.

DELUX VERSION
Add ½ cup more confectioners sugar and 1 cup whipped cream. Will frost one cake well.
