Maze Gohan (Rice Mixed With Vegetables)

Servings 6

  • 3 cups rice
  • 3 cups water

Cook rice (Method 1 or 2, page 29)
When steamed and ready, mix in the following gu.

Ingredients for GU:

  • ½ konnyaku
  • 1 small carrot
  • 6 string beans
  • 6 dried mushrooms soaked in water
  • kamaboko or ½ chikuwa
  • 1 aburage
  • 1 small gobo

Seasoning for GU:

  • 2 tablespoons shrimp flakes
  • 3½ tablespoons shoyu
  • 3½ tablespoons sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon gourmet powder

Cut all ingredients into small thin pieces and cook in 1 cup water until vegetables are tender.
Add seasoning and cook for 7 or 8 minutes longer.
Then mix into the cooked rice. Keep rice flaky.
Serve hot.
