  • 1 c. butter
  • 7 eggs, separated
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. cake flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder

Beat egg whites with 1/2 c. sugar until stiff. Cream butter with rest of sugar. Add yolks and beat well. Sift flour and baking powder and fold into batter. Then gently fold in egg whites. Spread evenly in jelly cake pan.

Topping:

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

Spread evenly over dough. Bake 350 degrees F. for 35 minutes. For moon shape, after the cake has cooled, start in one corner and cut circle with round cookie cutter, then halfway the rest of the line.
