Mocha Torte Cake

Beat:

  • 8 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • dash of salt

Add:

  • 4 Tbsp. strong cold coffee
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Fold in: (sifted)

  • 2 c. cake flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder

Beat:

  • 8 egg whites
  • 1/2 c. sugar

Fold into above mixture. Bake 325 degrees 20 to 30 minutes.

Filling:

  • 2 pkg. vanilla pudding – follow directions on box

Or the following:

  • 2 c. scalded milk
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. plus 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Cook until thick like pudding.
Top with the following:

  • 2 bottles avoset
  • 1/3 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. sugar

Mix well and let stand in refrigerator for an hour, then beat until stiff.
