Fruit Cake
1 box seedless raisins
1 cup butter (2 blocks)
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
4 cups sifted flour
2 tsp. soda
1 cup walnuts
1 package fruit mix
(1 package of dates may be added)
Boil raisins in 2 cups water for 15-20 minutes. (Cover pot.) Remove from stove, add butter. Cool thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl, add chopped walnuts and fruit mix. Add well beaten eggs to first mixture then pour this mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix well. Bake in tinfoil lined loaf pans 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours at 300°. (Makes 3 loaves.)
