Prune Cake
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups sugar
1 cup milk (sour)
2-1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 cup cooked prunes (chopped well)
Cream shortening with sugar. Sift together flour and all the spices. Add eggs to the creamed mixture. Then add alternately dry ingredients and sour milk. Add mashed prunes last. Bake in moderate oven at 375 F for 25 to 30 minutes.
