Mom’s Best Fruit Cake
Pan Size: Foil lined loaf pans
Baking Time: 1 - 1-1/2 hours
Temperature: 275 degrees
Yields: 8 medium loaf pans
1 box (15 oz) raisins
5 c. water
4 c. sugar
2 c. Wesson oil
4 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. salt
9 c. flour
4 tsp. baking soda
2 containers fruit cake mix
2 c. nuts, chopped
- Soak the raisins in water for 5 minutes. 
- Drain the water, then add 5 cups of water and boil for 10 minutes. 
- Take off heat and add the sugar, oil, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and salt. 
- Mix together and let cool for 10 minutes. 
- Add the sifted flour and baking soda and beat well. 
- Add the fruit cake mix and nuts and mix well. 
- Pour into foil lined loaf pans. 
- Bake for 1 - 1-1/2 hours at 275 degrees.
