Plain Biscuits

 

Sift together:
2 cups sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Cut in finely:
1/4 cup shortening

Stir in:
3/4 cup milk

Round up on lightly floured cloth covered or wax-paper covered board. Knead lightly (about 30 seconds). Roll or pat out about 1/2 inch thick, cut. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake until golden brown. Serve piping hot with butter and also Jelly, honey, syrup, etc. Bake in 450 F. for 10 to 12 minutes. Yields 15 to 20 biscuits.
