Pao Duce (Portuguese Sweet Bread)
Heat together 3 cups of milk and one block of butter. Cool.
Dissolve 2 cakes of yeast in a little of the milk mixture, making sure that the mixture ta lukewarm.
Add the yeast to the milk and add eight beaten eggs.
Sift 9 cups of sifted flour into a large pan, add 2 cups sugar, 2 tsp. salt. Add the liquid to the flour adding 1 tsp. lemon extract. Mix well adding more flour if necessary. Knead well let stand until double in bulk then shape dough into loaves.
Raisins may be added if desired. Let loaves stand till double in bulk again and bake in a medium oven 350 for 30 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the loaves.
